"THE ETERNITY โ A tribute to my recently deceased fatherโ
(โDIE EWIGKEITT โ Hommage an meinen kรผrzlich verstorbenen Vaterโ)
with the face of a young woman, created by FRรDรRIC-AUGUSTE BARTHOLDI. This fragment of a large copper sculpture was made by Bartholdi in France around 1870. He also created the famous Statue of Liberty on Ellis Island, New York, USA. Originally, it was called the "Bartholdi Statue" until Americans recognized its value. Today, it is part of their identity.
I had planned to complete this sculpture between March and May 2025. In February 2025, I completed all the sketches, drawings, and preliminary work.
In the morning of March 5, 2025, my father collapsed unexpectedly, coughing up blood and dying at the age of just 69. He loved Japanese art, especially bonsai trees.
Naturally, I stopped all works immediately. Since then, the sculpture has lain untouched on my workbench. It took almost a year before I could resume work on it in 2026. I don't think I need to elaborate on the sculpture and its parallels to my art of surrealist succession.
Historical French woman`s head in copper by creator of the โStatue of Libertyโ AUGUSTE BARTHOLDI, France ca. 1870 and a bonsai tree, 94x80x27cmยณ, IV-V/2023, collection of artist
Instead of my other work of art this sculpture is not for sale.
