"SUCCESSION – LA BELLE ÉPOQUE" (SUCCESSION – THE LOST CHILDHOOD)
Sculpture depicting an authentic French tricycle velocipede horse, Paris ca. 1870. This example is very rare, most have small rear wheels. There are many vintage copies of the common small-wheeled model in the 20th century. Most of these simple copies do not even have a hand crank because the chain transmission is complex.

The tree that grows through the man-made relic symbolizes succession when nature reclaims its territory. Furthermore, it shows the loss of “La Belle Époque”, the Golden Age of industrialization, luxury and prosperity. The loss of childhood shows the way children live today - constant digital distraction, television, computer games and smartphones, hardly any real, challenging play outside.
The large rear wheels turn briskly with a quiet, slow motor, while the front wheel is already fixed by the tree, which is already "grabbing" the rear wheels. The vehicle is murdered by the tree and is already raised at an angle as if it would be devoured.
In honour to the surrealistic art of Salvador Dalí I have adapted his crowns to my signature. Because I am a converted child of God, I am also a King's son like millions of other converted Christians who live a vivid relationship with HIM.
