Beschreibung
The death of this instrument occurs because it is deprived of its natural purpose of making music and thus falls silent forever. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗲, 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱. 𝗨𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆, 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁.
It shows an ancient guitar from about 1800. In keeping with surrealistic dreames, the guitar is penetrated by tree-like growths and itself "ossifies". In the process, it dissolves, breaks and becomes one with the organic form of nature.
The sculpture is based on and is a tribute to Dalí's world-famous painting from 1934 "MORNING OSSIFICATION OF THE CYPRESS".
Historical rare guitar from ca. 1800, found at a lage auction house in London, all remaining parts are inside so you could restore it to almost 100%, 92x60x17cm³, VI-VIII/2024, collection of the artist
